I’ve lived in Calaveras County, mostly in the San Andreas and Valley Springs area, for 48 years.  I attended local schools and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1967.  My husband is a retired police officer, and I have two children and one granddaughter.

I have served on the Calaveras Unified School Board for nine years.  It has been my pleasure to work effectively and cooperatively with the CUSD Board, and I’m proud of the record of fiscal responsibility and steady academic progress that we’ve made together.

As a founding member in 2006 of Citizens for San Andreas, I’m especially proud of the efforts made by so many citizens, throughout Calaveras County, to take the time to participate in the process of planning for the growth of our communities.  The more broad-based the public participation is, the more likely it is that the new plans will work.

Earning a living is hard in Calaveras County, and many must drive long distances to their jobs.  With the economy in a downturn and gas prices high, all of us are affected - working and retired people alike.

I know the challenges of doing business in Calaveras County, as I’ve owned a retail business and met payrolls in San Andreas and Valley Springs for 24 years.  Helping care for a parent, I experience some of the challenges faced by many families every day.

But even knowing the hard challenges ahead, every day I feel grateful and truly blessed to have grown up here and to live here.  Our families, our schools, our heritage, all help build our communities and help keep them safe and healthy places to grow up, to live, and to work.

I believe in personal responsibility, conservative budgeting, and being a good citizen.  I believe Supervisors should tell the truth, follow the law, and listen to the citizens.  I will bring all the energy and passion that has characterized my whole life to the job of Supervisor.

We’ve seen how we can accomplish so much if we’re willing to work for it.  While working and going to meetings I meet people throughout the District, and I can’t help but feel good about Calaveras County and District One.  We really are honest, hard-working, and down-to-earth people.  We can’t change yesterday, but we’re ready to roll up our sleeves and start planning now for a better future.

Working together, we can build the vibrant, prosperous, and sustainable communities we’ll all love for generations to come.
